    Metabolomics

Since its foundation within the University of Tartu in 2004, the Endothelial Research Centre has aimed to deliver relevant clinical and translational research in the fields of atherosclerosis, arterial stiffness and hemodynamics. The Centre is located at Tartu University Hospital and coordinates vascular research in the University as well as in different hospitals in Estonia. In recent years, we have also evolved our expertise in metabolomics to identify novel cardiovascular biomarkers and to study the complex role of metabolic pathways in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases.

We are committed to supporting graduate student success during their time at our Centre. A growing number of PhD theses based on original research conducted here have been defended at the University of Tartu in a timely manner.

Over the years, international scientific partnerships and collaborations with several leading universities in the field of vascular research have been developed: Cardiff University (prof. J Cockcroft), University of Cambridge (prof. IB Wilkinson), Uppsala University (prof. B Fellström, prof. L. Lind, prof. M Björck), Linköping University (prof. T. Länne) and Macquarie University (prof. A Avolio, dr. M Butlin).
